Galen
studied psychology at Manchester University, graduating
in 1971. Having completed postgraduate studies at Leeds
University he qualified as a clinical psychologist in
1975 and spent the following 13 years as a clinician and
researcher in the health service. In 1978 he was appointed
Head of Psychological Services for Barnsley Health Authority.

In
1985, having become dissatisfied with existing methods
for analysing qualitative data, he developed the processes
which now underlie the Priority Research methodology,
writing innovative software to facilitate this approach.
He founded Priority Research in 1987 and continues to
develop new methods of data and information display and
analysis.
He is a Charted Psychologist, a member of the British
Psychological Society and a Member of the Market Research
Society.
