  Community Safety Fear of Crime
Our research shows that fear is affected by a range of factors

We use academic research techniques to better understand people's concern about crime and disorder.

Our research shows that fear is affected by a range of factors including experience, perception of risk, the media and the seriousness of the crime type.

Our services can help you to develop practical approaches to tackling the fear of crime through special analytical tools like the Fear of Crime Matrix. This is an essential tool in identifying which crime types residents are concerned about. This data can then be used to inform reassurance strategies and to support initiatives to reduce fear. The data we provide can also be used to develop local performance indicators which will allow you to compare and track the levels of fear being expressed by your residents. These indicators will meet national requirements as well as your local requirements.
